Battle Athletes Victory or just Battle Athletes is an anime set in the distant future where after many years of war with an alien race, they agreed on a settlement in which there would be a contest of physical strength between one representative from each race. Althought the alien race was far more superior than the humans, a human champion prevailed, marking an era of peace over humanity, in which it would try to physically improve itself.

The story begins with Akari Kanzaki at a school on Antarctica in the year 4999. There are a series of tests that her and her fellow classmates must go through to determine who'll be the representatives to go to University Satellite, a satellite training facility. The main plot is about how Akari Kanzaki, former daughter of the Cosmo Beauty Tomoe Midou, wants to graduate from this school and go on to University Satellite to attempt to become the Cosmo Beauty.

The story then moves to a satellite training facility constructed for the purpose of honing the skills of the Earth's best and brightest for an elite competition to find out who is the best of the species, who is the Cosmo Beauty. The main plot here is about how Akari must work overcome training, school bullies and her own lack of confidence. To help along the way she is joined by her roommates, Kris Christopher, an emotionally solid priestess-to-be from the moon and Anna Respighi, a girl who tries her best for her mother and sister while also being designated the room's chef. There are also other characters from the beginning of the series making various appearances too, most notably Tanya and Jessie Gurtland.
