The Aristocats is a 1970 animated feature from the Walt Disney studio. The story revolves around a family of aristocratic cats, and how an alley cat acquaintance helps prevent a greedy butler from murdering them. This film is noted for being the last film to be approved by Walt Disney himself; he died in 1966, while the film was still in early production. It was originally released to theaters by Buena Vista Distribution on December 11, 1970.
The film's basic idea - an animated romantic musical comedy about talking cats in France - had previously been used in the UPA animated feature Gay Purr-ee.
There will be a sequel, Aristocats II in 2007.
The film is set in Paris in 1910. Duchess and her three kittens Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse, are kidnapped by their mistress Madame Bonfamille's butler, Edgar Balthazar, after he hears that the cats are going to inherit her fortune when she dies. With the help of an alley cat named O'Malley, Duchess and her kittens find their way back to Paris.
The Alley Cats in this movie is led by Scat Cat. The Gang is International. Scat Cat aka Swingy - a leader of an alley cat band and a friend of O'Malley's. {voiced by {Scatman Crothers}
