Laura Antoniou (b. 1963) is the author of The Marketplace series of books.

Laura Antoniou has been writing erotica for over 20 years. She is best known these days for her “Marketplace” series of novels, but back in the beginning, when pickings for good and readable porn was slim, Laura created the groundbreaking “Leatherwomen” anthologies, and edited several others, including "Looking for Mr. Preston," "By Her Subdued," "No Other Tribute," and "Some Women." Her short stories and essays can be found in other people's collections, including "Things Invisible to See" (ed. Lawrence Schimel), "Pomosexuals: Challenging Assumptions About Gender and Sexuality" (ed. Lawrence Schimel and Carol Queen), "The Second Coming" (ed. Pat Califia & Robin Sweeney) and more. Some of the work she created for those anthologies are reprinted in The Catalyst and Other Tales.

Antoniou's work has been published in the United States, Germany, Japan, and Korea, to international acclaim. She is personally featured in Writing Below the Belt: Conversations with Erotic Authors, by Michael Rowe (Masquerade Books); and The Burning Pen: Sex Writers on Sex Writing, by M. Christian (Alyson Books). Antoniou was also a columnist for Girlfriends magazine from 1995-1997, the submissions editor for Badboy and Bi-Curious magazines from 1995-96, and a regular contributor to The SandMUtopia Guardian from 1993-2000.

Antoniou is also a frequent speaker at colleges and conference. Her notorious 1995 essay, ""Unsafe at Any Speed, or, Safe, Sane and Consensual, My Fanny"" was first presented at the University of Washington, and she has also been a featured speaker at Columbia University, Rutgers University, the New School, and New York University as well as at s/m and leather conferences. ""Still Unsafe at Any Speed, but Making Good Time"" was presented as the 2005 Keynote Speech at South Plains Leatherfest in Dallas, Texas.

Antoniou has released five Marketplace books and is planning several more in the series. She lives in Queens with her partner.
