Elinor M. Brent-Dyer (born Gladys Eleanor May Dyer) (6 April 1894 - 20 September 1969) was a children's author best known for the Chalet School series. She published 101 books in her lifetime.
She was born in South Shields, South Tyneside, and wrote her first novels in the town.
In the 1930s she started her own school in Hereford: The Margaret Roper School. It closed in 1948.
