Wikipedia-Article "Bebel Gilberto"

Bebel Gilberto (born Isabel Gilberto on May 12, 1966 in New York City) is a Brazilian popular singer often associated with bossa nova. She is the daughter of João Gilberto and singer Miúcha and her uncle is singer/composer Chico Buarque. Bebel has been performing since her youth in Rio de Janeiro. At the age of seven, Bebel made an appearance on one of her Mother's records. At only nine, Bebel performed with her step-mother Astrud Gilberto and jazz saxophonist Stan Getz at Carnegie Hall. Bebel's first solo album was the 1986 EP Bebel Gilberto. Bebel moved to New York City, where she was born, in 1991. While in the city, she performed in clubs and at the Lincoln Center.

Throughout the 1990's, Bebel collaborated with a variety of musical stars such as Arto Lindsay, Thievery Corporation, Gal Costa and David Byrne. Gilberto also had success as a songwriter in the 1990's with the international dance hit "Technova." Bebel later moved to London. However, in 1998, she returned to New York for a Carnegie Hall duet with her father. Bebel's first full-length solo album. Tanto Tempo (Portuguese for Enough Time), was released in 2000 by Ziriguiboom / Crammed Discs and sold one million copies worldwide.
