Contents

Early life

Of French and Jewish descent, he comes from something of a Hollywood dynasty, as his sisters are Patricia and Rosanna, and brother Alexis are all actors. Their father was the late Lewis Arquette, and their grandfather was the late comic actor Cliff Arquette, best remembered for his "Charley Weaver" character, a fixture on the original Hollywood Squares.

Film career

David achieved his biggest success in the slasher horror trilogy Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1998) and Scream 3 (2000) as Deputy Dewey. He also met his wife Courteney Cox on the set, and married her in 1999. Their first child, a daughter named Coco Riley Arquette, was born in 2004. They have also appeared together in a Coke advertisement on TV in 2003.

Private life

He supported John Kerry during the 2004 election.

Arquette is much disliked by professional wrestling fans, after he won the WCW World Heavyweight Title on April 25, 2000 in an effort to promote his wrestling-based movie, Ready to Rumble. The storyline was hugely unpopular; even though Arquette himself was a wrestling fan, he reportedly thought it was a bad idea. He was eventually convinced to do the stunt by head booker Vince Russo. Arquette quietly donated the entirety of his WCW salary to the families of the late Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, and Brian Hildebrand. He even gave some to Droz, who suffered a career-ending injury during a match with D'Lo Brown.
