Spam may refer to:

• Spam (food), a brand of canned meat sold by Hormel.
• Spam (Monty Python), a comedy sketch involving this meat, which in turn gave rise to the sense below.
• Spam (electronic), unsolicited or undesired bulk electronic messages, such as:
  • e-mail spam
  • link spam (aka blog spam or Blam)
  • spamdexing - manipulating a search engine to create the illusion of more popularity of a webpage of lesser importance.
  • Spim - instant messenger spam

• Street spam, a.k.a. Flyposting, illegal blanket advertising in public places.
• Spaghetti & Pulsar Activating Meatballs, a competing parody religion engaged in a holy war against Flying Spaghetti Monsterism.

Generally speaking, spam refers to a flood of large amounts of individually useless items. Some specific other uses of the term include:

• A character from the Tolkien parody Bored of the Rings.
• Any of a number of fanzines and magazines of the same name such as Spam magazine, published in the mid-1990s in Houghton, Michigan.
• Grenade Spam: Spam (Team Fortress).
• In first person shooters, a spammy weapon is a weapon which doesn't need an aim to hit the target.
• In fighting games, "spamming a move" involves repeatedly using a single move above all others.

This word has been voted by a British translation company in June 2004 as one of the ten English words that are hardest to translate, but in fact it is now used in many other languages in its English form with the same exact meaning, due to its use on the Internet.
