The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is a foundation created to support breast cancer research. The Komen Foundation hosts thousands of events around the country. It is made up of volunteers and cancer survivors alike, sharing a common goal in publicising the risk of breast cancer. The Foundation is the premier non-profit funder for breast cancer research, with an affiliate in every state.

The Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982. Susan G. Komen asked her sister, Nancy Brinker, to bring an end to breast cancer soon before her death. The Komen Foundation was formed in response to this promise and to commemorate all of those who have died of the disease.
