Wounds is a band, formed 1997 with other name and line-up in Harjavalta, Finland. In December 1998 Soldehed, Ovaskainen Walkama took new guitarist, Jouni Hertell to the band and our old guitarist P.P Walkama started to play bass guitar. In the beginning Wounds were mostly influenced by old 80’s Metallica, Slayer, 80’s Sepultura. Later by Morbid Angel, Stone (band), Sarcófago, Deicide, Impaled Nazarene, Sodom, Cannibal Corpse among many others. In summer 1999 Wounds recorded their first demo/rehearsal tape ”Brown In Sight”, which was recorded their rehearsal room. Demo contains three songs including ”Brown Inside” which is also included in our first real demo ”Brutal Mutations”.

Somewhere in late 1999 Wounds' original bassist (and guitarist), P.P Walkama decided to leave the band because he seemed not to be interested in band anymore. So others composed two new songs without bassplayer and decided to enter real studio in December 1999. So Hertell played also bass in our first demo ”Brutal Mutations”, which was recorded 11-12.12.1999 in Studio Sound Doctor, Pori, Finland. After recording Soldehed decided to take care of bass lines in future. Wounds also played some gigs with the most brutal bands from finnish underground metal scene like: Horna, Adramelech, Deepred, Morbid Savouring, URN, Slugathor, Torn (ex-Shadows Of Sunset), Furnace, Solitaire, Suicidal Winds (Swe), Behexen…etc...

Almost six months Wounds were composing new stuff which was more brutal and faster. 19-21.6.2000 Wounds spent in recordings of their second demo ”Barbarizing The Death” in Studio Sound Doctor. It contained five new songs and two old tracks from first demo and heavier soundquality than in first demo. Wounds also got some offers to different compilations and was played in biggest finnish metalshow (Metalliliitto = as english ”Metal Union”).

Wounds did some gigs and sold their demos, traded them and did stuff like that almost a year before their third attack. Many new songs were composed and Wounds returned to studio 4-5.6.2001 to record new demo ”Nuclear Devastation”. Their old friend Sami (Irritate, Incriminated) from Hostile Regression Records heard it and asked if Wounds would like to release their debut album through sub-label of finnish Hostile Regression and american Blackmetal.com called Bestial Burst. The deal was done and in 5th day of January 2002 Wounds started the recording sessions of their debut album ”Chaos Theory”. Wounds spent 5 days in studio and 8 new songs were recorded, and as for bonus in the album Wounds included our last demo.

Almost two years after the recordings of ”Chaos Theory”, Jouni’s military service and a few gigs (with bands like Thyrane, Mengele, Sethery, Norther, Deepred) Wounds decided to record some new songs. Sami/HRR said that he cannot release anything before December of 2005, only solution was to record a promo. ”Holocaust Reich” includes 4 new songs which are more aggressive, more fast and even more thrashy than our album. ”Holocaust Reich” has got a very positive feedback from everywhere.
