The Sweet Valley book series was created by Francine Pascal in 1983. The series stars a set of identical twins, Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield, and revolves around their life and community in the fictional Sweet Valley, California. The last Sweet Valley book, Sweet 18, was published in January 2003. The books are generally classified as young adult or kids' fiction.

The book series began with the Sweet Valley High series, but eventually came to cover their lives from second grade through college with the inclusion of Sweet Valley Kids, Sweet Valley Twins and Friends, Sweet Valley Jr. High, SVSY (Sweet Valley Senior Year), Sweet Valley University, and Elizabeth. Other spin-off series included the Unicorn Club and Team Sweet Valley .

The TV show Sweet Valley High was based off the book series and aired from 1994-1998.
