Transdisciplinary refers to an entity (usually a person) having training in two or more disparate fields of inquiry. The difference between this and interdisciplinary is most easily illustrated by example:
An interdisciplinary research project in games might involve a computer scientist, psychologist, interactive media designer, and artist.
A transdisciplinary research project in games might involve a handful of people who were trained in all of the above areas, for instance someone with an undergraduate degree in psychology and graduate degree in interactive media, a computer scientist also trained as an artist, etc.
Interdisciplinary brings together multiple people with specialization in a single field. Transdisciplinary brings together people with specialization in multiple fields.
