Research Institutes

MiCDA is one of eleven centers on aging sponsored by the NIA. It specializes in: Retirement, health and well-being of the elderly; Socioeconomic status and health Demographic and survey methods; The dynamics of intergenerational exchanges; Demographic analysis of the aging of disadvantaged populations; Demographic/economic evaluation of the impact of public policies on retirement.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) has established exploratory centers on the Demography of Aging to provide innovative and policy-relevant research on health, social factors, economics, and other issues that affect the U.S. older population.

PSC is one of the oldest population centers in the United States, with a distinguished record in both domestic and international population research and training. Established in 1961, the Center has a rich history as an interdisciplinary community of scholars in the field of population studies.

This center facilitates interdisciplinary population research by economists, sociologists, and other population scientists. Topics include family, aging, health, schooling, and employment, as well as determinants of fertility decisions and their dynamics. In each area our researchers work at the margins of traditional demography, helping to expand the domain of the field.

The Carolina Population Center is a community of scholars and professionals collaborating on interdisciplinary research and methods that advance understanding of population issues.

IIASA studies population, development, and environment of Southeast Asia, the transition of centrally planned economies to markety systems, population movement between nations, global disparities in age structures, risks associated with global change and population aging.

The Population Research Institute (PRI) at Penn State University encourages, organizes, and supports innovative research and training in the population sciences. PRI is the home of Penn State's dual-title graduate program in demography.

The University of Michigan Institute for Social Research (ISR) is one of the largest and oldest academic survey and social research organizations in the world. The ISR is dedicated to social science in the public interest.
