Created by Michael Burdick, Hunting For Bambi is a series of videos that center around a fictional competition to hunt semi-naked women with paintball guns in the deserts of Las Vegas.
The central idea of the program is that hunters (men) pay $5000 to $10,000 for the privilege to hunt "Bambis" (women wearing nothing but a thong and tennis shoes), by picking them off with paintballs powerful enough to draw blood. The Bambis themselves have a reason to participate: the chance to win $2,500 if they avoid getting hit and $1000 even if they do.
The truth is that the entire production, which many have assumed to be a reality show, has been proven to be a hoax. The hunts are staged, paintball hits are carefully planned, and the hunters actually work for Burdick. This hasn't stopped it from becoming a profitable franchise with thousands of videos sold and merchandising lines planned for the future including (according to the Hunting For Bambi web site) a clothing line and video games. It also hasn't stopped the series from getting worldwide coverage by the media, with Jay Leno, David Letterman, Howard Stern, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC and the BBC providing news of the show.
