Wikipedia-Article "Matt Anderson"

Matt Anderson is a Major League Baseball pitcher. He was born on August 17, 1976 in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended St. Xavier High School-also attended by major leaguers Paul Byrd, Chris Burke, and Jack Savage. After high school, he went on to Rice University, which has hosted too many big names to list.

In the 1997 amateur entry draft, Matt Anderson was picked first overall by the Detroit Tigers. In his first professional season, 1998, he was called up from the minors where he had a superhuman ERA under 0.70. Perhaps his first season in the majors has been his only one that people can call respectable-he went 5-1 with a 3.27 ERA in 42 games. He also struckout 44 in 44 innings pitched!

Since then, he has not posted an ERA under 4.72 in the major leagues, or 3.79 in the minors.

Perhaps he suffered through his worst season to date in 2005-he walked 11 batters and gave up 19 hits in 10 innings with the Colorado Rockies.

Even with his fiery fastball, which has been clocked at 103 MPH, his career has taken a turn for the worst.
